What Pressures Students?

Are the teachers really the reason why students are getting pressured? Is it the load of requirements students are getting from their subjects? Or are they only the ones pressuring themselves? This essay will discuss about the reasons why students are getting pressured from studying. This only includes my opinions towards why students often feel pressure while studying.

Yes, there may be a lot of factors that pressure students in school. Teachers, for sure, play a role in this matter. Parents also need to understand that they also are one of the reasons why their children often experience pressure. But I think that these are not the main character in the story. I think that students, themselves, play a big role as to why they often feel pressured. They are the ones pressuring themselves. It all boils down to the mindset those students setting themselves. It is about their attitude when being given tasks and requirements. I’m not saying that students are not being responsible. I think that they always see them, their requirements, as a burden to them that is why they are always getting pressured by them.

We, students, should practice optimism in every work we do and in every task we are given. We should not always think that these tasks are given to us because our teachers want us to suffer and to fail. Requirements are given to us because teachers want to measure our capacity. There is no need for us to aim for what would make us the top of our class. There should never be a reason for us to compare ourselves with others. We will never be the same as our classmates. Just as what Bill Gates says, “Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world. If you do so, you are insulting yourself.”

See, the reason why students often feel that they lack on something or like they feel that they are not capable of doing something is that they always try to look for themselves on other people. They always try to compare what the other people can do with what they can do. Every student has different way of learning and expressing what they have learned or what they know. If one student does not show his/her potential in his/her grades, maybe, he/she will show it with how she talks or communicate with others. Grades are not the only measurement of one’s knowledge. Every student and every parent should understand that!

That is also why I believe that parents are the supporting actors and actresses in this story of students feeling the pressure in their studies. They often see to it that when their children are not getting good grades is because they are not doing well in their studies. They don’t really see what their children are capable of because they always rely on the awards and recognitions that their children are getting. They should understand that their children need their support and guidance in every work that they do. When they see that their children are not getting good grades or not doing well in their studies, they should engage into realizations as to what would be the reason why their children are being like that. They are the parents, so I think that they should know what their children are going through.

Teachers, definitely, also have a role on this story. They should also asses their students about their status about their subjects. Their program should coincide with the capabilities of every student they have. They should not always rely on their own schedule while dealing with different students knowing they have different capabilities. They should also be the ones motivating their students, not putting more pressure with what the students are already having or experiencing.

We all know that pressure is everywhere, but we also need to understand that only we would be the only help to our struggles and needs. Sure, there are also external factors that contribute to those, but it only goes deep within us. It always depends on how we think, act, and see things. Our approach on something always affects how we would deal with that thing. Parents, teachers, load of requirements, etc. are also the reasons why we feel pressure in our studies. But if we just have a different set in mind of how we perceive things, we can always be able to get out of that zone wherein these external factors can no longer affect us in our decisions and how we feel about things. We just need to be optimistic in everything that we do so that we can always gain motivation from anything.
